Geoff Nichols will be there to greet everyone from 7pm. As I mentioned there’s no set agenda to the evening so it wont matter too much if people turn up later than that.

Since no-one has come forward to organise this, I’m assuming no one is planning on going and camping would have needed to get booked as its the BH. MEET CANCELLED.

    UPDATE
Of the people that I know that were thinking about going to this meet, they have messaged me to say that they aren’t heading to the Lakes after looking at the forecast.
Camping in a small tent with a wet dog with heavy rain, gales, potential thunder storms and high risk of a midge infestation, has not really enthused me, so I’m also bailing.
Good luck to anyone you does go and I hope the weather forecasts are proven wrong!

Classic Rock-Cycle Challenge CANCELLED due to lack of interest.
(and it also became news to me on Friday that not everyone could see the sign-up sheet).

Myself and Kial will do this at another point in time.

    Photos in social.
The morning dew soon disappeared as more climbers joined us in the sunshine for some quarried limestone sport climbing.

It was the first time I’d been to this venue and the first time I’d done any sport since Norway 4(?) years ago! I’m not sure all the trad climbers enjoyed some of the distances between the bolts but there were some very nice routes for those top-roping. Those a little more used to it, showed us how it was done, leaving the better routes for the afternoon.

    Hi,
We’re just looking at ferries from Oban on the Saturday (28th) and they’re all booked up so we may have to come in via Tobermory from Ardnamuchan (bit of a long way round though). We were planning to spend some time in Ardnamuchan afterwards anyways.
Have people booked on the ferry yet?
Who’s going and how long are people staying for?
    Thanks,
    Gemma

    Hi,
Myself and Kial wont be coming to the social this evening πŸ™ Kial (and now me this morning) have tested positive for covid so we thought it best not to mingle.

I’ve booked 2 tables of 5 at the Craft and Dough for 7pm, one in my name, the other in Kial’s. I’m sure you can organise yourselves πŸ™‚

I’ve had to hand over my card details in case of a no show (later than 15mins) or late cancellation which is Β£5 each so if you’re short on numbers you may have to spread yourselves over the 2 tables.

    Enjoy the climbing and pizza!

Hi, Unfortunately the Fat Cat wont take reservations for food for Saturday evenings as they’re super busy at that time. However as an alternative I’m booking tables at The Craft & Dough for the same time 7pm. It’s in the vicinity so if folk still want ale in a classic pub, they can go for drinks after a pizza.

(One day we wont have a last minute venue or time change!)
    Thanks,
    Gemma

Well the weather said it all really.
4 brave souls and soggy scottie dog headed from the shelter of Blacka Moor woods into the headwinds across Houndkirk Moor towards Burbage Edge. And it wasn’t just rain, there were hail showers beating in our faces too. We continued on, splodging through through boggy ground. Before long the meet leader took pity on the drenched folk and cut a few corners off the orginal route. This was fortunate and we were blessed with a beautiful double rainbow near Higgar Tor. We turned southwards and got slight relief from the weather. The meet leader then decided to make another short cut and the mention of a hot drink at Longshaw cafe was sound to people’s hears. When we arrived at the visitors’ center we were disgraced to hear that dogs weren’t allowed in the newly rennovated cafe. So to not risk people getting cold, we decideded to drive on and up over Totley Moor where we saw a herd of red deer. On the descent back to the car, there was a spell on blue skies and it felt almost pleasant.
~9miles in total. Thankyou to Hugh and Alison and Archie for bravely turning up. I hope you’ve dried out!
