ParticipantAs you will have seen, the clubroom will be open next Thursday 10th from 6pm till 9pm.
This would be an ideal time to bring any items you can donate for the auction.
Cheers

ParticipantUPDATE FROM HELEN
Start at Rails Road carpark first right off the A57 after Crosspool
Time 09.30
Distance: almost 7 miles
Car park small, share cars if possible.
I will cycle thus safety in lock numbers!
A muddy, slippy path sometimes over roots.
Head stone destination with no obligation to scramble, Rivelin plunge pool on return and no obligation to plunge.
Thank you
HelenThere was a map as well but I’m too incompetent to copy it at this time of night, but you all know Rail’s Rd car park anyway. Don’t you?
Cheers

Participant3rd Feb sideshows now complete.
After the main event and Russ’s contribution there will be a small selection from the last (I think) CMC visit to Cornwall in 2012. Hopefully will encourage a few to join this year’s Easter Meet to the same place.
Cheers

ParticipantThere have been a few offers/suggestions for the new Meets List which will be finalised on Thursday at the committee meeting.
However, we do need more volunteers please.
If anybody has any more suggestions and, even more importantly, can offer to organise a meet, please contact me ASAP.
These will be Sunday meets, mainly walks/scrambles but anything considered. X country skiing may be possible if the weather allows.
Cheers

ParticipantTHIS SUNDAY’S WALK 21ST NOVEMBER
Instructions to reach the start.
Not difficult to find but as out of the usual familiar Peak area I thought I’d post the details.
Take the A57 towards Worksop (or via Junction 31 of the M1).
From the M1 junction the A57 continues as a dual carriageway. Continue to the first roundabout (Todwick).
TURN LEFT towards Dinnington.
After a mile or two on entering the built up area look out for a huge DHL WAREHOUSE.
TURN LEFT immediately OPPOSITE. this onto ROTHERHAM RD..
Follow this for a short while to a crossroads with a main road.
Cross straight over the main road onto HANGMAN’S LANE.
Very soon a prominent church spire will be seen on a hill.
Travel up the hill entering Laughton-en-le-Morthen, passing a school on the left.
PARK before the crossroads near a bus stop and congregate by the prominent red STOP sign for a 10 am start. Walk is 8 miles.

ParticipantREMINDER OF THIS COMING SUNDAY’S WALK
Also realised I hadn’t put a start time, so as Gemma’s curry on Saturday night is now later let’s say meet at 10am.A bit of a change of scenery from the Peak, east of the M1 (just).
Starting from the quaintly named Laughten-en-le-Morthen the focus of the walk is the Cistercian Roche Abbey coupled with what the guidebook describes as “endless panoramic views”!
The walk is circular, 8 miles long (13km)and includes riverside walking, stepping stones and “the most redundant OS trig point in Britain”! So plenty of interest.
Unlikely that the tea shop at the Abbey will be open, so bring provisions, the pub at the end MAY be open.
According to Google Maps it takes 37 mins to get there via the A57.
Parking at grid ref SK 520881 by the bus stops on School Rd close to junction with High Street. OS Sheet 279 Doncaster South.
Hope to see you there.

ParticipantI have a copy of the Castle book for you. Will bring it along.

ParticipantMust admit we didn’t check the Meets List but should work really well! An hour’s abseiling then sit and pick books about routes which need abseils.
We’re still going to pub for tea first though, hope not to get into abseiling off situations again, been there, done that.
Cheers

ParticipantUpdate. Vanda and I are going for tea in the Rising Sun first. From 7pm if anybody wants to join us.
We’ll 0get the heating on early so the Clubroom should be toasty warm by 8pm.vanda boyd
ParticipantThat’s ok for us for curry. Not AW though especially as I’m supposed to lead the Sunday walk.
