ParticipantIs Bill really only 15??
I went through Eyam today. The shortest route in from the 623 (the B 6521) near Stoney is currently closed off for roadworks or similar, so this leaves the routes in via Foolow or via Sir William Hill road from Grindleford only. No indication of how long the road is going to be blocked, so assume it will still be closed next week, and most people will need to allow a little extra time to get there.

ParticipantHi Bill, Elen
I am interested. Depending on the route Lin may also come along.

ParticipantThis is what they have called the Fiddlers Elbow road, which runs from the main road between Fox House and Hathersage. You learn something new about the place all the time.

ParticipantSteve
there are a number of us away this weekend in Yorkshire – including Kathy & John – so a general plea / invitation to anyone not away this weekend will be better. Probably best if you suggest a time / place, and if fussy – grades. There is no planned local meet – now is your opportunity to create one.

ParticipantHi Steve
Yes there will be a number of us there, climbing and walking / cycling. Personally I have no idea about crags – but I think Geoff has some ideas. Perhaps we could use your local knowledge. See you there sometime. Not sure what mobile reception is like there either.

ParticipantJust to confirm, should anyone else wish to join us – Grassmoor car park GR 412672 (Chesterfield OS map), 11 am. pit stop at Teversal community café.

ParticipantNot sure if I will be there – going for a walk today, so may be heat struck out by then. May see you there for the evening though

ParticipantHi Bill
ThanksI should have said before – this is the evening one from and to the clubhouse – does this make a difference ?

ParticipantHmmm. My “shortened” ride turned out top be just over 39 miles, 3700 ft ascent. I await the main groups details with interest. Thanks Mary and everyone else on the ride.

ParticipantNot sure I am up for 44 miles, but am thinking of a shortened version, cutting off about 800 ft of ascent and 10 miles, starting out the same up to about Grindon, then cutting across via Milldale and Parwich to join up the main route around Longstone
Tea stops possible at Hartington, Hulme End, I think at Waterhouses, several options in Ashbourne, Carsington reservoir centre. I don’t remember any after Carsington (long route) or Hulme End (shorter route).

ParticipantOK, Thanks

ParticipantChange of plan
Weather far too good to be stuck indoors so am not going to wall but going to try not to wreck skis instead.

ParticipantI’m taking the road bike, but judging by how badly I went today, I will be doing a short, slow route only on Saturday only as intending to walk on Sunday. However I have got a book with a few routes based on settle for anyone else who is interested in seeing what they are letting themselves in for.

I can see it here on the CMC website if I access the messages directly from the website, but the link in the email I received about it did not work.
