Thanks for the write up Vanda. They was a really good friendly vibe so fingers-crossed a high percentage will now join.

As a follow up from that, I’ll put a few extra meets together catered around new members but they’ll be for everyone of course. These extra meets will include:

Awesome Walls Saturday evenings – me and Kial will put a date in once a month.
Awesome Walls Tuesday evenings – there was discussion of moving the Tuesday evening outdoors climbing to indoors once it got dark, although I’m happy to climb indoors now due to work so me and/or Kial will be there from 6pm til late (dates TBC).
Outdoor bouldering – Richard has kindly volunteered to lead some groups out from now and through winter. I’ll get some firm dates we can work with.

Paul G – I’ll confirm these wil you soon to add to the existing meets.

    Thanks everyone,
    Gem

FYI – out of ~78 members we have in the club, I’ve had 13 responses to these events.
All I asked was for people to say Yes/No if they could make it to help me plan numbers. I’ve taken a gamble, let’s hope you guys don’t let me down and we get more than 7 Castle members attending.

    Gemma & Kial
    Linda & Dave
    Chris Lunn
    Gordon Riley (maybe)

Sunday 19th Sept @ Stanage Pop.
    Gemma & Kial
    Linda & Dave
    Chris Lunn
    Mary Reape
    Gordon Riley
    Rosa Vilaseca

If you think you can make it to one or both new members members and help the club out, let me know either by replying to this or filling out this form https://forms.office.com/r/x8Did19Ddu

    Thanks!

Hi, On a related note, I’m not sure if the club keeps records of who’s got first aid quals etc. but I’ve got full outdoor first aid certification.

Great suggestion from John Barnard with recreating the Thursday club room nights – especially since me and Kial can’t get to them anyway.
I’ve just been on a Teams video call with screen sharing since 9am – 3pm and it worked really well – which ever platform we use, hopefully it will have screen sharing so we could even have the slide shows!

Myself and Kial have decided to abandon this weekend (we’ll pay for our places of course)- a tough decision as I felt obliged to come and do the main meal for Saturday evening, but I’m sure they’ll be plenty of volunteers. Enjoy yourselves!

I’ve attached my shopping list if you want the quick quantities and ingredients of everything.

    Hi everyone,
So looks like I’ll be co-coordinating the communal meal for the Saturday evening. So…

    On the menu:
Starters: Chris and Jo have kindly offered to organise this.
Mains: Spaghetti bolognese both meat and veg options.
    Desserts; Marianne is making cheesecake

    Anything else?
    Some nicely made garlic bread?
    Salad?
Any other sidles, nibbles and desserts appreciated.

Anyone NOT taking part in the communal meal, please post on here just so we no numbers. It’ll be 22 for full house from what I gather.

Stirrers and choppers needed on the night ๐Ÿ™‚

Great idea about the curry for Sat night communal meal. Let know if you want anything else bringing along (sides etc.) Shall I bring a dessert (not a pudding) ๐Ÿ™‚ ?

    Hi all,
What’s the craic with the Xmas meet. It’s the first Xmas one that myself and Kial have been on. From what I gather, we’ve got a meal, do I need to bring any food for sharing? Mince pies? Stolen? Do we bring our Santa hats?
In terms of activities, there’s obviously walking and I’ve seen the thread about cycling. I guess we just need to decided whether we’ll bring road or mtb.

    Looking forward to it.

If I don’t have anyone to take out walking, I may come and join you. Road bike? I’m guessing from the map, it’s the layby on the bend of Fennel Street?
    Thanks
    Gemma
