After todays fiasco when the front brake hydraulics blew a safety seal, so cutting the ride very short, I will come along.

I’ve just realised the last six miles from the end of the canal to the station is virtually all on major roads, unless you want to swim across the Trent. And the train back to Chesterfield takes around 90 minutes – so not an early finish.

I thought I would drop a couple of pikkies here of the results of one section of the ride – the slimestone way mud got a bit friendly

Since I will not be walking, I have devised a mountain bike route, about 19 miles start and finish from the same spot. If anyone cares to join me….. I have not reccied this so don’t know how difficult it is, but if we are too quick we can return via the Houndkirk road and Lady Canning’s Plantation instead of going up Burbage

Leon told me that Mary would be sorting something out – which means at least three of us intend cycling. I don’t know anything else at this stage

Please would you check the grid reference as it appears to be the middle of the field, nowhere near a hut or track. Thanks

If anyone fancies doing something shorter, then options of about 12 and 18 are also available – all with the same few miles to Beeley Moor to start.

Sounds a great idea, but as I am having severe problems with my feet, a trek is not on the cards just yet. Personally I would prefer to do a shorter trek if able as this would be my first time in that part of the world.

    Hi Paul, Vanda

I have been assured by the hut booking secretary that she knows of no problem with Castle booking the hut, so Steve Warwick’s comments the other day may have been based on another Castle CC or simply perhaps ages ago when apparently Steve Ralph crashed out on the floor without having booked in – or something like that.

Anyway, as secretary for BUMSAC, give me a call if there are any problems.

The BUMSAC annual dinner / AGM is normally the first full weekend in Feb, which will be the 5, 6, 7 next year assuming it runs as normal (these are the dates I have pencilled in anyway!!)

Interested – but we can both go as BUMSAC members booking separately if numbers require

    Dick
