Mark up your calendar for September’s Tuesday evening climbs:
Tuesday 6th September, Lawrencefield (park at Surprise View) – beautiful spot in the trees with a stinking lake below the climbing. Climbing at all grades – try Pulpit Groove (VD) , Excalibur (VS) & Billy Whizz (E2) [youtube.com/watch?v=oP-Hbt4dLAg]
Tuesday 13th Birchen (park above Robin Hood pub) – superb views above Chatsworth, lots of choice & Nelson-themed routes. Lots of low-grade routes – try Promenade (D) [youtube.com/watch?v=gHdCylSkyZM], Powder Monkey Parade (S), Nelson’s Nemesis (VS).
Tuesday 20th Yarncliffe (park halfway down Grindleford Road just below Padley Gorge parking) – sheltered little quarry with lots of ants to make friends with. Climbing from S upwards – try Ant’s Crack (S), Ant’s Wall (HS), Fall Pipe (VS). [youtube.com/watch?v=YacqF-AuQr0]
Arrive as early as you can as the nights they be drawing in, offer lifts & times you’ll be there in the Whatsapp channel – encourages more people to come along. Pub afterwards, as always.
