We had lovely sunny weather for this walk over Bamford Moor with beautiful light and extensive views in all directions. The first stone circle was the 7 stones of Hordron after which we crossed the moor to the smaller but perfectly formed circle at the south end. Most of the group did a short diversion to find the fallen fluted stone called the Old Woman that used to stand 8ft high but was broken by gamekeepers in the 1930s to stop it being used as a guide for ramblers. We returned along Bamford edge enjoying views of the reservoir as well as Kinder, Bleaklow and Derwent edge beyond. My second walk with only 2 stiles to climb over – this may become a habit. 6.2 miles. 18 of us in total. Thanks for the company of all who were able to join in. Marian
