7 brave souls set out in cold but cloudless, sunny conditions, somewhat later than intended due to the attractions of the teapot. Further delays in progress due to a wonky mudguard saw us rapidly warmed up climbing up the hill towards Wingerworth, where we promptly lost most of the height before climbing up an unexpectedly busy minor road towards Beeley Moor, progressing onwards to what was supposed to be lunch at the café in Barlow. This turned out to be tea or coffee plus nibbles, in aid of something – oh yes, Alzheimers. To test our powers of hill climbing, we then went to Holmesfield before dropping down and up to Shillito woods, the cross road near Curbar Gap and then back via Upper Loads and Holymoorside. Tea, coffee and scones to finish off. Depending on which GPS you believe, 32.6 or 33.7, and about 3400 ft of ascent / descent. Thanks everyone.
