Participant13 of us set out in excellent conditions accompanied by 2 dogs who were very well behaved and kept their owners on leads much of the time
Weather sunny and warm but with strong south easterly winds which were especially noticeable on Swine’s back
A couple of air crash sites were visited which led to much interest and discussion.the only other notable event was damage to the leaders car after an argument with a large pot hole.
thanks to all who came and also thanks to Pete and Wendy for waiting with me for the AA, much appreciated

Participant9 Club members made the journey over to Hayfield along with 1 visitor who led the session. A very informative and interesting session followed based around the mass trespass and the political context in which it took place.
Weather forecast wasn’t promising but largely accurate. WE did have some bits of rain but also extensive periods of sunshine. The most significant weather feature was the very strong winds but nothing we couldn’t handle.
Discussion continued in the pub in Hayfield where hot and cold drinks rounded off the day very well.
Thanks to everyone who came and made the day so positivegordon riley
ParticipantThis took place last night in clear weather. Prior to the event possible numbers had fluctuated wildly but 6 people attended 5 of whom requiring some input. One person left very early due to a clothing malfunction.
The session went well with some features included to be deliberately challenging in order to highlight various teaching points. which was successful according to feedback.
Thanks to all who cameGordon

ParticipantUp to 2 days before there were only 2 people intending to come on this meet. In the last 2 days this expanded to 6. We still managed to cover what we intended. visibility was good generally and not too hot.
Feedback was generally positive and all felt they got something from the daygordon riley
ParticipantHi Folks
I received the following from Chas Hird,s daughter which his wife and children wish me to share
Thanks for informing Dad’s friends at the Castle Mountaineering Club. It was really touching to read all of the kind messages that were sent about him.
I think it would make sense to post something on the message board. Mainly so we can keep track of who might be interested in attending the funeral. If the following could be posted I would be very grateful.Last week Charles Hird, former Castle Mountaineering Club member passed away suddenly while on holiday in the lakes district with his wife Pat.
We know he greatly enjoyed his time in the club and had many friends within it. We’d like to thank everyone who has already reached out with kind words in the last week, it means a lot.
We are currently in the process of arranging a funeral service for Charles. If you would be like to be informed of the details of this service when they become available please email charles.hird@talktalk.net stating your interest.Best wishes,
Julian, Pat and Angela Hirdgordon riley
ParticipantThree of us, Bill , Weaver and myself had a really enjoyable day over the Roaches We did wait 10 minutes to accomodate any late arrivals but no messages received so we went,
Weather was much better than expected although North East wind on the skyline area and over towards the trig point was strong but not enough to cause any problem. The scrambling was drier than i anticipated we only encountered a couple of damp bit s at the beginning otherwise the the rock was dry.
A good day had by all involved thanks for the company

Participant3 of us met up for this walk one of whom met us below Mam Tor due to it being impossible to find anywhere to park in Edale.
An atmospheric time was had going over Rushup Edge and Brown Knoll in mist, light rain and strong westerly winds The mist and low cloud didn’t lift until we were on Kinder. An uneventful descent was made via Grindslow Knoll to return to Edale
thanks for the company it was good to chat although the meet leader was struggling a bit from being ill and tired after the Scottish trip.

ParticipantEight of us enjoyed a really good day with clear dry weather and light winds. The plan was to look at two crash sites, a B24 liberator bomber from WW2 and two sabre Jet fighters that collided in mid air in 1954. All of the above was achieved including tracing the wreckage trail from the top of Kinder to the lower ground by the snake path passing several areas of wreckage including wings, landing wheels, tailplanc and a jet engine. The 2 minutes silence was appropriately observed at a point between Snake Top and Mill Hill.
Thanks everyone for your company and making it such a good day. There are photos on both walkers and climbers wattsap groups

ParticipantHi Richard
Thanks for that, much appreciated.
I think It would be easier for you to lead a separate route on kinder of your own choice. I ll offer the crash sites another time as there is quite a lot of information to send overThanks again
