November 24, 2024 at 12:28 pm in reply to: Feshie Bridge – Mill Cottage 8th – 14th February 2025 #23418Geoff NicholsParticipantWe have paid for 6 places in this hut; myself, Helen, Hugh, Pete Hammond, Richard Pegram and Andy Ward; as the club had to pay for the places it wanted by now.
If others want to book as individuals and there is still room in the hut you can do so direclty on the web site: https://gbmh.co.uk/huts/mill-cottage-bell-memorial/ Please let me know too and we’ll set up a whatsapp group for the meet.Geoff NicholsParticipantLangdale meet 31st November to 3rd November – meet report
The meet was based in the Fell and Rock club cottage in Langdale. This is a 17th century farmhouse with lots of character, open fire, ceilings too low for John Barnard, and one cooker. Of the 12 people on the meet, 4 attended the Fell and Rock AGM on the Saturday afternoon, some after visiting Kendal wall in the morning. Booking the Thursday night meant groups could walk on the Friday as well as over the weekend. This all worked well. Beautiful autumn colours. Misty hills. The cottage is cheap to book and we only had to pay for the places we used. It would be very good for a summer meet because of all the climbing in Langdale.

We need to pay the full cost of booking the hut three months before the booking, which is by 8th November. We have booked 8 places for 8th – 14th February 2025
If you’d like to go on this meet please pay the club £105 by 7th November. Label your payment with your name and Feshie. So far myself and Richard Pegram have booked. A few other people have expressed interest.
We will then pay the hut.
All the best
GeoffGeoff NicholsParticipantEdale circular – 13th October – meet report
Rosy hints on the tops on the early morning drive over to Edale. After the meet leader had been reminded of the start time five of us set off up Grindsbrook, taking the North branch to the plateau. Just enough water to make this fun scramble practical. A navigational senior moment took us directly to the top of Fairbrook, rather than Kinder gates – but that was the aim in the end anyway. We descended Fairbrook Gully which has managed to unjustifiably sneak into the scrambles guide. Fine autumn colours descending Fairbrook. Back up to Seal Stones and over the short crossing to Edale. A lovely day. Thanks to my bog trotting companions.
Geoff NicholsParticipantI’ve got a club copy of the Lowland Outcrops guide which covers the area. I’ts also worth running off the Jon Bigger guide to Crammog Head as this has better diagrams and looks like the best venue to go to. I’m happy to stay up for Sunday night to climb or walk on Monday 30th too.
Geoff NicholsParticipantWould anybody like to share a lift to the Dales?
Geoff NicholsParticipantI’l be there, with a mate, Phill, from 8th or 9th.
We will be there ’till about 25th.
I’ll leave a note at the campsite office saying what pitch we are on.
GeoffGeoff NicholsParticipantMight be 20 mins late if I get the bus – but I’ll catch you up
GeoffGeoff NicholsParticipanttechnology failed – paper copies provided on the day!
Geoff NicholsParticipantHI,
Attached are lists of the climbs done by Puttrell at Wharncliffe betwenn 1895 and 1990.
This may help plan your day on Sunday. Flat caps advised.Geoff NicholsParticipantSorry – had to cancel this one as I don’t think I’ll be able to get there.
We will do it another time.
GeoffGeoff NicholsParticipantWe have extended the booking of the Tremadoc hut to include the night of Sunday 17th April – allowing us to use the bank holiday Monday in Wales. We have 2 places left if others want them.
Geoff NicholsParticipantDoes anybody want to share a lift from West side of Sheffield. Leave 8.20am
Geoff reply to geoffnichols1955@gmail.comGeoff NicholsParticipantI’ll be at the Hen cloud car park 8.10 Sunday. Happy to climb with anybody there. I can give a lift from Sheffield. If its too wet for climbing – I’ll walk to Shutlingsloe, or Shining Tor. Maybe even run there. Followed by tea and cake in the van. Geoff
