Here is a link to cycling routes – road and mtb in the North Pennine area. Whole variety of routes.

MaryDavid, Bill and I did the Balderstones reservoir mtb ride, the one that is cyclable from the hut, last year. Sadly as a mtb route it wasn’t the best, scenery lovely though.
The others are a bit away, and I would like to do Cross fell but it is a drive. We’ve got a county Durham mtb book and we think that a route around Hammersterley forest could be adapted to do from the hut for anyone who wants to mtb. Lots of potential for road biking or trails. Fingers crossed for a nice , cold, dry spell.
