The day began with the announcement of Pete and Jane getting married this week. So CONGRATULATIONS to you both.Fourteen plus dog then set off along from Ashford along Pennyunk Lane to Monsal Head and coffee. Fine blue skies and sunshine afforded glorious views of Dovedale with ever changing autumn colours. A visit to a simple chapel in Little Longstone followed where, for future note, weary travellers can help themselves to a brew! After a few more field crossings and a meander through Great Longstone we found a shady spot under two trees for lunch. A short stretch along the Monsal Trail came next before a short climb and then descent towards the outskirts of Bakewell. The final stretch followed an attractive stretch of river back to the cars. Total 7.1 miles. Thanks to all for great company.
