A lovely, sunny autumn day for a walk over the hills. Nine set off from Fairholmes up to the eastern edge via the concessionary path and then the track below Pike Low. The meet leader was still feeling the effects of COVID and (by prior arrangement) left the group at the path junction above Hancock Plantation to take a shorter loop. The main group carried on up to Lost Lad, then back to Hillend and down Sheepfold Clough to Abbey Clough, where the mixed deciduous replanting is in evidence. Some Belted Galloway cattle were helping to churn the ground as an aid to biodiversity. The reservoir track completed the 8 mile circuit, after which tea was taken in the Bamford cafe. A very pleasant day out.
