Eleven walkers were blessed with a sunny day for this gentle ramble of about 6 miles. The walled lane from Calver Low was followed up to the east end of Deep Rake where an overgrown archaeological site was spurned in favour of a south facing coffee stop with a pleasant view. The lane down to Rowland and a short cut across two fields led to the quiet road into Hassop from where School Lane was followed to a lunch spot at the south end of Bank Wood. The path through Bank Wood and Bramley Wood provided some views of Baslow and Chatsworth before descending easily to the starting point.
The first time leaders were grateful for an uneventful walk and acknowledge that weather credits are accorded to the Thursday Walks coordinator.
