The last one before a summer break, so for anyone who is around:
We will take a slightly more energetic than usual moorland stroll starting from the Birchen Clough car park on the A57 (GR SK 108916) at 11.00 am.
To get the cardiovascular system warmed up we ascend steeply N to the plateau then head NE to Nether Reddale Clough. Down there, across the Alport river, up and then SE to the trig point at 128933. From there we will pick up the path along the top of Alport Castles, then down to Alport Castles Farm, and along the track to Hayridge Farm before returning to the cars along the course of the old Roman road.
About 8 miles.No teashops so don’t forget lunch and water!Call me if you want to share transport.
