22 members turned up at Dennis Knoll on possibly the best walking day of the year so far. We ascended to Stanage Edge under sunny, blue skies. A cloud inversion lingered in the Derwent Valley whilst we were bathed in warm sunshine enjoying spectacular views. There was a brief halt for photography before we left the edge for our coffee break at a large flat topped boulder. There was a little reluctance to leave this spot, but eventually we continued down through the plantation to the luxury of toilet facilities. (Brownie points)
Next we ascended to Carhead rocks and the undulating nature of the walk began to unfold. There were more views here, and the word spectacular was mentioned again. We descended past vineyards ( was this Provence ?) to a sunny lunch break in Hathersage churchyard.
I had promised minimal mud, and it was discovered in the allotment and in the environs of Birley farm.
Following the permissive path from there we emerged on the minor road where a few continued ahead to the cars. Others made a short detour to Green’s House with more views of Stanage and Carhead. About 6 miles.
    Thanks everyone for coming!
