Parking spaces were at a premium but after a bit of manoeuvring we all fitted in at Upper Burbage bridge.
After a few recounts a total of 16 walkers and a dog was agreed. There was a fleeting glimpse of a cyclist, but he was never seen again.
The day being fine we set off along the top of the Burbage edges pausing briefly to admire the slimy green coating on the routes in the quarry and eventually taking a coffee break at the large unfinished gritstone trough, a veritable curiosity of the Peak. Then it was into Longshaw, over the footbridge and up the gully. There was some virtually inaudible muttering about Padley Chapel at this point but the leader held course for the top of Millstone Edge. Here we enjoyed an excellent view from our lunch spot in the partial shelter of some low boulders.
Next we descended to cross Ringinglow road and passed Scraperlow to reach Mitchell Field where we were joined by another Castle member who had walked backwards from Burbage Bridge thereby setting a fine example. The unavoidable flog up the bank having been accomplished, we followed a nice easy path back to the cars.
    Thanks for your company,
    Frank and Jennifer
