Thursday Walk 24th August-Report

12 of us set out from the designated start undeterred by the meet leader’s incorrect Grid Reference!
After the crossing of Ughill Moors we stopped for a T break in a scenic & sheltered spot above Dale Dike.A steep descent then led down to Andrew Wood and the circuit of Dale Dike.
After crossing below the Strines Reservoir dam wall lunch was taken under the trees below Holes Clough.A steep climb then led us above the notoriously boggy section of the path below the Boot Tower. A straightforward traverse above it all then led us easily to the Tower,which was inspected by some in the party after the leader was called upon to drive out the resident heffer.
All that remained then was the rhododendron passage around Sugworth Hall and an easy walk along the road back to the cars.
A pleasant 7 mile circuit in fine weather and no crowds.
