A walk visiting the spectacular Alport Castles in the Dark Peak.
Meet on the last free roadside parking area before Fairholmes (about 1/2 mile before at G.R. 174889).
The route climbs to Woodcock Coppice ,descends past Rowlee Farm,crosses the A57 and recrosses the road at Alport Bridge and goes up the valley to Alport Farm from where a steep climb leads to Alport Castles with excellent views of the cliffs and the Tower.A steady walk ,largely paved, then leads back to Woodcock Coppice and Fairholmes.
N.B. The walk is on good tracks and paths with HARDLY ANY MUD honest!
