12 members set out in dry,but rather humid conditions.
Having reached the top of Lose Hill we stopped for a tea/coffee break admiring the view. We then continued to Back Tor after which 2 members turned off.The remaining 10 continued to the summit of Mam Tor passing various school parties.
Here we descended south from the summit and enjoyed lunch on an excellent vantage point giving spectacular views of the steep muddy & rocky south face of Mam Tor and the Hope Valley below.
Lunch over we continued onwards and downwards ,crossing the remnants of the old main road and then traversed diagonally past the Blue John Mine entrance and past the Tree Cliff Cavern to the foot of the Winnats Pass from where we took the path leading towards Peveril Castle, but branching left into the quaint back alleys of Castleton.
The heat and lack of wind made a cafe stop for drinks/ice cream impossible to resist, after which a steady walk through the fields led us back to Hope.
