13 members started some 5 minutes late due to the meet leader under estimating the time to walk up to the start from Fulwood!
However we were soon crossing the moors on the concessionary path to Redmires with all the usual boggy sections completely dry.
Leaving Redmires we took the Long Causeway to Stanage Pole, but, shock horror,the Pole was missing! Apparently it was removed due to rot and concerns about safety, but a replacement is to be erected.
We then traversed Stanage in quite windy conditions and increasing cloud. Lunch was taken in a sheltered spot by the trig point and we then walked over to Burbage Bridge and followed the path along the top from where we took the connection to Houndkirk Road. A short cut across the moor got us to Oxstones where there was some half hearted fingering of the rock but no ascent.
The cars were only minutes away and the threatened rain didn’t materialise.
