Participant21 hardy souls, and Poppy, turned up on a cold, dank day for a circuitous ramble across fields and stiles to Over Haddon, where lunch was taken. The meet leaders earned points for providing picnic tables, a comfortable wall (except for those with short legs!), and a public convenience, but lost them all for a walk that had a complete lack of “views” (courtesy of mist and low cloud). One member remarked that the walk could easily be repeated, as she hadn’t a clue where she was.
After lunch the pace picked up as people tried to warm up. We dropped down into Lathkill Dale and headed west, with everybody electing to take the planned exit up Mill Dale, rather than a 2km extension that might contain an aggressive horse. A final section across a field of long damp grass ensured we all had clean wet boots when we got back to the cars.
9.1 kms according to the Steve’s GPS. Thank you all for coming.
Martin and Pat.
