Park at More Hall dam (SK 287 958, along the private Yorkshire Water road – turn immediately left through the stone gate pillars off the A6102 1km N of the middle of Wharnecliffe Side) for an approx. 6.5 mile walk around the reservoir, passing Brightholmlee, New Laithes, Bud Lane, Carr House, Ewden, Cote House and Hollin Edge.
We will see a medieval cruck barn, an abandoned village, and a packhorse route along the way, with the star turn being a team of scythers in action.
