The bulk of the group assembled above Moscar Heights, but with difficulties parking the entire group and a forecast of heavy snow at midday onward threatening our exit, we opted to use the meet leader’s alternative start at the lay-by above Cut Throat bridge.
Once there 10 members set out on the meet leader’s alternative walk up to Derwent Edge where the scenic ridge was followed in sleet and apparently worsening weather southwards. At the end of the ridge the rather steep descent took us behind the Derwent Water Inn from where we crossed the Ladybower via duct and continued to Heatherdene where a bench and picnic table provided a convenient lunch spot.
At this point the weather eased and we ascended through the rather attractive wooded area above Heatherdene to reach the northern end of Bamford edge.
A steady walk with great views over Ladybower then led round to Jarvis Clough and the track back to Cut Throat bridge.
At just below 6 miles,a pleasant round with excellent views.
    Mike
