14 Walkers met in Litton on a glorious morning. After a distribution of bay leaves to the needy the walk gathered momentum. The stony descent of Tansley Dale provided a test for the many dodgy knees in the party but the subsequent ascent on the far side was easily accomplished. The gradient eased and a pleasant grassy path led us to the top of Wardlow Hay Cop with views all around. A perfect place for our coffee stop.
A permissive path took us down into Hay Dale which we followed to a sylvan lunch stop by the tranquil waters of the River Wye. (a car park). Then through Water – cum -Jolly Dale where E3’s and A2’s had been climbed in the far distant past, but today only mud needed to be negotiated.
The steady ascent of Tideswell Dale brought us to a (pointless?) sting in the tail, which met, at best, with a mixed reception. Better received were the ice creams which rounded off a pleasant day.
    Thank you for your company.
    Frank & Jennifer
