Figure-8 walk from Stannington, round the Rivelin Dams and out to the Headstone.
Meet 11.0 am outside my house (46 Uppergate Road Stannington S6 6BX – GR 303886 – opposite medical centre – parking on street or adjacent Bankfield Lane/Sheldon Lane). If pavement busy please socially-distance outside garages at junction of Uppergate Road and Bankfield Lane.
Route via Underbank, Riggs, Rails, below Rivelin Edge to Rivelin Dam. Then Wyming Brook Drive and Reddicar Clough to Headstone. Return via river and 1/2-mile along A57 (pavement) to Onxley Lane, Moorwood Lane and “Twenty Fields” to Nethergate. String suggests fractionally over 8 miles, but can be shortened by omitting Headstone. If we’re more than 6 a second group can do the route in reverse – any volunteer deputy leader please contact me.
