Meet 10am GR109914 at the Birchen Clough Bridge parking area, 1km up A57 from Snake Inn on right hand side. Bring 1:25,000 Dark Peak map and compass if possible.
Here’s your opportunity to re-practice those rusty navigation skills eg general map reading, interpreting contour detail, judging distance by timing or pacing, using a compass etc., something for everyone no matter how much or little you’ve used a map. However the navigation is optional. Just come for the walk on the paths and trackless wastes of Bleaklow, if you prefer. The last 2 times I’ve walked in this area recently, I’ve seen mountain hares. Distance about 9/10miles – depending on our map reading!
