Bill and myself will be running an abseil practice session at Lawrencefield on Sunday 20th March. Climbing will also be an option if the weather is OK.
The aim is to allow novices to gain confidence by abseiling with the security of a safety rope. It may also be a useful refresher for others wanting to ensure they are following safe practice when abseiling.
MEET: Surprise View carpark at 10.30am. (Payment by cash or card). If you arrive later we will be at the “Delectables” area – about 200 yards beyond the pool area.
EQUIPMENT: Essential: Harness, belay device. Boots or trainers with decent treads.
[Other equipment may be useful if you have it but can be provided including: helmets, 120cm sling, prusik loops, screwgate carabiners.]
Unless the weather is horrendous the session should be OK to go ahead but it would be a good idea to bring warm clothing, gloves and waterproofs.
If you have any questions please let me know via paul.embley@blueyonder.co
