Eight of us set out after having fuelled up with a last minute tea or coffee, to brave the delights of the long pull out of Holymoorside up to Beeley Moor against a brisk breeze. Then across to the A619 near Eastmoor, to Shillito Woods, and largely freewheeled down to Cordwell. From there, along the B 6051 to Barlow, where we were pleased to be able to sit outside the café in pleasant sun and shelter for drinks and cake. From there, a steady climb back up past Barlow Grange and then we repeated a mile or so to Shillito woods, turning left this time, past the remains of Ramsley reservoir down to the Baslow road before turning back towards Chesterfield, this time with having the pleasure of the wind behind us to help. From Eastmoor, we retraced our tracks, to find Steve, who had been forced to forgo the pleasure of our company, going up the Cathole road as we freewheeled down it. Tea & buns at Dick & Lin’s. 31 miles. Thanks for the proposal Steve. Sorry you couldn’t make it.
