If you’ve ever wondered how many Red Brooks lead up to the Kinder Plateau then this is the scramble for you! Owing to the current unpredictable weather conditions a route has been chosen which should be possible in any conditions. It links together three Grade 1 scrambles. No technical scrambling is involved and no extra equipment will be needed other than windproof and waterproof clothing.
MEET: 9am at Birchen Clough Bridge carpark (SK109914)
ROUTE: We will start along Ashop Clough, ascend Upper Red Brook, and cross Kinder plateau to the top of the Downfall. We will then follow the western edge and contour down to the bottom of Red Brook (No 2) which we will ascend by an easy but entertaining scramble. We will recross the plateau and descend Nether Red Brook back down to Ashop Clough. (For the more adventurous Nether Red Brook has some Grade 2/3 variations.)
NB This route combines Routes 27, 28 and 33 in the “Scrambles in the Dark Peak” guidebook.

I’ve done an extra reccy and there is no significant snow or ice affecting the chosen route so it will go ahead as described. No technical scrambling involved and no special equipment required except weatherproof clothing, Met 9am at Birchen Clough free carpark (on the right about half a mile up the road from the Snake Inn).
