On a damp and unappealing morning 17 members plus one, new canine member met at Monsal Head.
We set off down the steep path for several hundred yards before realising that we were going the wrong way! Had the signpost been tampered with? No the leader was too busy chatting to check the route!
Finally on the right track we descended to the Monsal trail, crossed the viaduct and up the equally steep path towards Brushfield. Once at the top the views were good and we stopped for a coffee break before passing the farm. Here a good track took us to a t junction and the right hand path led us to a lunch stop high above Miller’s Dale. The early lunch stop proved fortuitous as the rain only started as we finished our sandwiches and began the descent to the valley.
The last stretch along the Monsal Trail took us back to the viaduct with a final push uphill to Monsal Head.
