6 members braved the extreme heat warning and turned up at Peak forest sporting shorts, hats and lashings of suntan lotion. We set off across the fields after passing Coney Farm and found shade beneath the trees to rehydrate. All the local sheep had the same idea.
We passed Slitherstone mine and then down hill to Oxlow house. After crossing two roads we toiled up hill to Rushup edge. There was no shade but a breeze on Lord’s Seat made for a pleasant lunch break with stunning views across the valley. (We didn’t see the notice asking people not to walk on the barrow until it was too late).
From Rushup edge an easy trail on the pennine bridleway led to Perry Foot and back to the cars which were baking in the sun.
Thoughts of ice cold lagers and ice cream and fond memories of greek beer in frosted glasses kept us going through the afternoon heat!
A walk of good views and lively conversations. Thanks to all who turned up.
    Lynda and John
