    Early notice.!
Tradition has it that one of the medieval Eyres, who was probably living at Highlow Hall or North Lees, built a hall for each of his seven sons, each hall being within sight of the others. This would offer some measure of protection, allowing the passing of messages by signals. This walk visits what are probably six of the halls.
Starting in Hathersage at the end of the road leading to the station at 9.30am, the walk is about 12 miles/19 km long.
    Hope to see you there.

The weather gods looked kindly on us, so that 14 of us had a great walk of twelve a a half miles from Hathersage. The aim of the walk was to visit six of the seven halls reputable built by Robert Eyre for his sons in the sixteenth century. Local knowledge saved the walk leader from going too far astray. The weather improved over the day and we experienced a great sunset from Moorseats Hall. Thanks to all those who came. David
