CMC members are invited to the Eagle Ski Club slide show on Tuesday 10 Jan 2017 at the Maynard (Main Road, Grindleford, Derbyshire S32 2HE – just below the turn-off for the station). It starts and 7.0pm and there will be two talks, with food served between them:
– Declan Phelan will talk about an unguided ski crossing of the Vatnajökull in Iceland – 125 km in 8 days across Europe’s largest icecap. Featuring lots of hauling; some weather; a decent summit; a little skiing and all the remoteness you could wish for (this talk was postponed from last year).
– Mark Serby will talk about an Eagles trip to Iran in 2004, which included an ascent of Damevand (5610m)
The cost is £10 (including meal) and is payable on the door, but please contact Steve Wright (steve@overtonhall.com) to reserve a place, and to ensure there is enough food.
