Some mountaineering clubs hold ‘next of kin’ contact details of members, for use in an emergency or accident affecting a member. At a recent committee meeting , it was suggested that this idea could be discussed more fully at the AGM in November. In the meantime, individual members might consider carrying such contact details themselves in their rucksack, perhaps on a laminated card as one member does. Hopefully it will never be needed!

I expect quite a lot of us use the emergency contact feature on our phones. Without unlocking the phone, anyone can tap Emergency on the phone and get the emergency contact details that the phone owner has entered.
