You may be interested in the following note I received (as secretary of the ABMSAC)

The BMC direction in relationship to clubs

As you are probably very well aware the BMC has decided not to rebrand to Climb Britain. Here is part of their statement posted on the BMC website.

‘Following a strong reaction to our rebranding announcement in July, and after a period of consultation with members, the BMC has now made the decision not to rebrand as Climb Britain. During the first three weeks of September the BMC held twelve consultation meetings across England and Wales to explain the thinking behind Climb Britain and listen to members’ views and concerns. Each meeting was attended by at least one senior BMC official or staff member (president, director, CEO or Deputy CEO), and our National Council met on 17 September to review the feedback; written comments from individuals and clubs were also taken into account in this process. ’ Rehan Siddiqui and David Turnbull.

They go on to talk about lessons learnt. We on the clubs committee believe that we have not offered National clubs a forum to come together and talk about what they would like to see from The BMC and from the clubs committee in recent times. Therefore I would like to invite you to come to a discussion on what your expectations of a future BMC in the coming years, in the context of the present day range of climbing, hill walking and mountaineering styles. The session will include a brief about the present activities of the BMC and an insight into the strategic plan.
