Is it really 9 years!? This year the walk is very flexible allowing for all to join at some point if they wish. Instead of the usual party at a home afterwards, we will have a big picnic at Padley Chapel, near Grindleford station There is some covered seating should it rain, but an extra layer might be needed!
So a prompt start 11am at the junction of Back Lane, Dore Lane and B6001, in Hathersage This is the turn off to Hathersage station. You can come by train or park in the various places in Hathersage. Allow time for this bit. Paid parking is at the station and swimming pool; or a fair bit down by the river etc.
The full walk is about 7 miles, uphill to coffee break, just below Higger tor, We will walk Over Owler Tor, and head down from the north end of Millstone edge, down and down to Padley Chapel and picnic. Bring your own sandwiches and a little something sweet or savoury to share. Then a gentle hour or so back along the river. People can then use the pubs or cafes if they want to continue the social.
If anyone wants to join us eg at Lawrencefield pond, or the Chapel, happy to give lifts back at end to cars or station . Please let me know directly if you are doing this .
If anyone coming for picnic and not walking, Charles no longer has a car.. he might be interested with advance notice.
Looking forward to seeing you all. Linda.
