Re Thornbridge Hall Gardens Wednesday 24th
Ok lets meet at 9.45am at the garden gates. Marianne, does this fit in with your school run??
I think it is an RHS partner garden
It is £7 per person (gone up a bit since I was last there). Carers get in free!

Thanks to everyone for bringing yourselves and food to the BBQ
Thanks to Kial and Dave C for being bbq monitors, Jane for sofa calming tips(sorry we forgot to make your porridge) and everyone else too. Bill and I did very well by hiding people’s food and only rediscovering it after people had left.
We have some non perishable booty:
    a head torch- JB?
A my little pony shopping bag with some salt, pepper and few other bits
Jo has a bag for a fold up chair.
We will bring the whiskey (thanks Jo) and charcoal to BR sands.

A few of us also managed an almost 10mile walk from here to Wetton tea room. Dave Crowther met us there and did two trips to shuttle us back. What a star.
Saw very few people on the way there apart from the SCC road resurfacing team.

Can’t think of a nice way of saying this so….
I know a lot of people are away that weekend, a bbq would be great and everyone is v welcome. But if no one can make it then it would be good to know now so I can get cottage bookings. So if you Can come, do let Bill know by Monday. If we do have enough takers for a BBQ then it is poss also to just come along on the night if you don’t know what you are doing yet.
Walkers, cyclists and those not wanting to climb v welcome too. Happy to lead walk or cycle if Sean hasn’t got anything planned.

    Hi everyone
The grid ref is 198 697. It is a little gated road A6020 just opposit the turn off into Ashover and is ok for a few cars. It is a road bike ride with a short section on the Monsal and HP trails and a vv short section to the trail which might not be suitable for high end bikes but is easily walkable. I’m taking my road bike, not the tourer. Basically Ashford, Monsal Head, cressbrook, taddindton, chelmorton, monyash, Middleton, Elton, youlgreave, overhaddon and back. Expect some hills.

Looking forward to seeing you Dawn, Gemma and Leon.
    10am start.

Change of start point and other things
1.the start of the cycle ride is now at Dick and Lins house. This also solves the café problem as we are being offered tea &buns at the end.
2.sorry if I gave the wrong impression. We have a healthy number of participants for the cycle ride
    3. I am looking forward to it.
    4.Chores can usually wait

umm thought id get away with a lie in.
However I’m putting together a relaxing little road number. Sadly hills can’t be totally ruled out, but then we will need to keep warm.
My current fascination in the area north of Matlock and west of Clay Cross. This bike ride will take in the delightful Stubbing court, birdwatchers gem Ogston Res and some little villages around. The perfect companion piece to Sunday’s walk.
Exact route not entirely known at moment, but it will be 25-30miles. Not sure what will be open so bring sarnies.
meet at the parking area on Flash Lane SK292 655 , which I hope is convenient for all.

    latest:
men: Steve w, Sean, john m, Gordon t, leon, Andrew, Paul, mike d, Russ, kill.

Women: Chris K, Marian, Ali, Josie, Sue W, Vandal , . Gemma

the men’s spaces are full and we have been given two extra women spaces, Gemma has taken one of these and there is one spare.

potentially we can get more if a kindred club member books extra places, but will leave that to a Chris to coordinate. she will let you know all you need to know.

For these who don’t know, men and women dorms are separate in FRCC huts. they are also a very particular club. The place is to kept tidy, no music or radios allowed . Before you go out in the morning all washing up must be done, dried and put away. Not too much noise either..
Sorry to be so particular but a friend of mine got suspended for a year for taking a noisy/rude group and someone else got similar for not doing their washing up before they left to go climbing.
I am not too worried as you are a lovely bunch. The best FRCC members can be bribed with whiskey. Enjoy yourselves!

Remember to submit a presidential challenges for Andrew to complete next year.

All challenges should be sent to Ali before the 28th November, the challenges will be chosen at the dinner

As an example I will challenge Andrew to cycle the Tour de Peak District. A 155 mile route taking the nicest way closest to the edge of the Peak District. Either in one go or over separate days .www.peakimages.co.uk/cycling/tour-de-peak-district/

    In brief:
anyone submitting the challenge must be willing to do the challenge with Andrew
the cost of the challenge shouldn’t be prohibitive (unless the challenger is paying)
challenges should probably be legal, decent, moral and safe –
He has agreed to do up to five minor challenges which will be chosen for him by Ali
He will also do (at least) one major challenge which he will chose.

I suggest that the cycle ride begins at 10.30 at Hannah’s sculpture garden. This way I leave where to park to you. Options are the free car park in Eyam, somewhere around Stoney and Horseshoe Quarry area, giving you a bit of a grind up to Eyam , either up main road or the back track from Stoney Village. Best bet is on the B6521 from Grindleford. I think there is parking just by the blocked off bit and maybe before. This will save a hill climb. The road is easily passable by bike . Maybe car share is an idea. So far: Linda, David ( leaving later), Mike D and Dave C from Sheffield and Dick, and maybe Lin from Chessie.
Why is nothing easy!. Thanks Dick, Paul and Steve for info.
