Walk report
Eleven of us (+ Poppy) set off from the centre of Hartington for what proved to be a classic 6.6 mile walk. After passing the remnants of the cheese factory we climbed up to the uplands and views of the south of the Peak District started to unfold. They got even better as the whole party dug deep and managed to summit Sheen Hill from which fabulous 360 degree views were enjoyed. Refreshments were taken on top of the hill before descent was made to the ancient fortification site of Pilsbury Castle. Following lunch a steady climb took us to a broad ridge with the River Dove twinkling below. Looking back in the direction of Buxton and over the distinctive profiles of the hills of Chrome and Parkhouse the clouds had gathered and soon the party was hit by a rain storm. This only lasted for 15 minutes and though clothes were dampened spirits certainly were not as the party strode down the final lane back to the start of a memorable walk.
Andrew MilneKeymasterAli has developed a cough and cold and unfortunately will not be able to lead her walk. Sorry for any disappointment this will cause
AndrewAndrew MilneKeymasterMeet report (slightly late!)
Fifteen of us set off from Totley at a good pace arriving at the first planned stop earlier than planned. Nobody objected to sitting down having a brew and admiring Sheffield from high on Blacka Moor. Views were good as we headed across the moor in the direction of Fox House. Lunch was taken in Longshaw. The walk then took us to White Edge Moor before heading east to the trig point at the summit of Flask Edge. We then descended back towards Totley in afternoon sun. Everybody seemed to enjoy the round but the meet leader had to apologise as the walk was slightly longer than advertised (will plan more carefully next time!)
Cheers
AndrewAndrew MilneKeymasterDear All
As an addition to the stagger a few of us are doing a seasonal mountain bike ride. If you fancy coming along meet at Vanda and Paul’s at 10.00. The route will take us up the Porter Valley and over Stanage Pole and onwards – route and distance are flexible according to weather and time. The aim will be to meet the Seasonal Stagger party at the guaranteed undercover lunch spot or failing this see everyone back at the start
Cheers
AndrewAndrew MilneKeymasterDear All
There has been a couple of slight amendments to the walk (thanks Sean for update).
Distance is 12.4 miles and ascent is 1485 feet.
Forecast is quite good for the afternoon (with the chance of sun!) but there seems to be the possibility of rain in the morning.
Still planning to meet in Peak Forest at 9.45
Cheers

Andrew MilneKeymasterLooking the latest weather forecast there are showers forecast over Chew Valley area tomorrow and it will be windy. Leon and I are thinking it may be better to stay local and not drive all the way to Chew so we are thinking of going to Wharncliffe Edge. We said we would meet at the parking area on the road just beyond Lowood Working Mens Club at 10.30.
Cheers
