    Hi All,
This Sunday’s climbing meet is at Wharncliffe crags. There are routes for everyone who can manage at least Diff.
I don,t need to sell the crag to anyone who have been there and climbed. There are classics and there are Wharncliffe classics.
Some of these classic may involve losing any dignity you had (Puttrell’s Progress VD). The quality of the rock is generally good.

The main drawback to Wharncliffe is finding the routes. Access to the bottom of the crag from the parking is hard work. and moving between the buttresses along the bottom is problematic. The best way to access the climbs is to head for the top left hand end via good paths and two railway tunnels. Walk along the top to you can descend down the numerous easily gullies to the bottom of the crag.
To make things a little easier for people who don’t know the access, I will meet you at the parking for a 10.30 departure.
Parking is on Station Road about 200 metres up from the Lowood club. Parking is generally on the RHS and there is plenty of it.
Postcode for Lowood club S362UZ Grid ref SK291980 The first Buttress of the day will be Great Buttress (if we can recognize it from the top). See you there,
