A change from the walk listed on the Meets Calendar. Meet on the village green by the main car park in Baslow for a !0:00am start. There is some free on-street parking opposite the green, otherwise it’s c£6.00 for the day in the pay and display – a good reason to car share where possible. The walk has plenty of historic interest, going briefly into the Chatsworth Estate, climbing past the Jubilee Stone and the site of the old Baslow Colliery, over Gibbet Moor to Hob’s Hurst House and down to Park Gate stone circle before returning via the woods above Chatsworth House – 9 miles. Please let me know if you plan to come along.

After checking out the Baslow/Chatsworth area yesterday I’ve decided to move the start time forward to 9:30 so we have a better chance of finding parking spaces – it was vey busy. Also, I encountered a large herd of free range cattle close to the path on Gibbet Moor, plus sheep, deer and ground nesting birds so, regrettably, I have to say please, no dogs on this walk
