After a slight confusion about the exact location of the start of the walk, a large, jolly party set off in bright sunshine from the car park on the side of Redmires Reservoir. Fourteen soon became sixteen as we were joined from the rear by John and Janet plus dog (Cocoa?). We headed over to the conduit which we followed to the small reservoir at the bottom of Oaken Clough. The weather at this point was bright and breezy, but conditions underfoot were very moist. Fortunately everyone negotiated the small though fast-flowing brook without mishap. The breeze strengthened as we neared High Neb and the stone shelter just before the edge provided a welcome rest point for coffee. John’s knee was causing bother at this point, so he retraced steps and headed for home. On reaching the edge John and Janet took the short cut back to the cars, leaving thirteen of us to weave our way down from near High Neb to the car park at Dennis Knoll. From there we took the path down to Green’s House and stopped for lunch in a lovely sheltered spot by the old mill pond. Then it was uphill to the Edge where the wind was picking up and the rain which had been forecast looked more threatening. Luckily we got back to the cars without getting wet with an added bonus of meeting Frank on the way. Thank you all for a pleasant day out. Jennifer
