Eight people and one dog met at High Bradfield under pale grey sky. The weather steadily improved and the second half of the walk was in glorious spring sunshine. From St Nicholas’ Church, we walked under Agden Rocher, past the ruins of Rocher Head farm and up the hill for an early tea break with bench and view. We then took a small path on the west side of White Lee plantation before veering off to join Load Field Road. Staying on roads (Canyards Hills and Dwarriden Lanes) to pass a converted cruck barn, we then took the Rushy Lane path through woods before doubling back on the path along the side of Broomhead Reservoir – with a break on a brackeny/bluebelly mound for lunch. Steep paths led up through Horse Wood and Poggs Wood to Walker Edge. A brief section on this lane led to a path which led back to White Lee plantation which we skirted to the north and east. We then headed back to High Bradfield via the top of Agden Rocher and a brief section on roads before taking refuge in paths again from Brown House and so back to the church. Thanks all for the good company and apologies for the walk being longer than advertised (Andy reckoned over 8 miles) and for Sue forgetting the walk etiquette and letting Tig have a run by the reservoir…lessons for the future!
