Eleven walkers left Low Bradfield for this pleasant circuit of Agden and Dale Dike reservoirs. After an early coffee stop a couple left us for an appointment in Sheffield, and the rest enjoyed a gentle ascent of Wilkin Hill with grand views of the next section of the walk. We found shelter for lunch behind a stone wall near Hallfield. Unfortunately this marked the start of the rain. Undeterred we descended past Stubbing through to a rough section of woodland with techniques for negotiating fallen trees which could have been avoided by continuing along the track to Brogging. A boggy section, followed by the inevitable mud, persisted until we reached Blindside Lane. We followed this by an eventful style crossing – rebuilding required – and over another slippery path back to Low Bradfield. Our efforts were rewarded by tea and cakes in the Old Schoolroom cafe – delicious.
Many thanks for your company.
