A circuit of Dale Dyke reservoir with ups and downs, woodland and moorland, about 6 miles.
Park on Dale Road (GR SK 246 921) just below the track down to the reservoir (more roadside parking just up round the bend if needed, though car sharing encouraged due to limited space).
We will walk down to the water, and head SW along the southern shore, rising to meet the Sheffield Country Walk. Up past Brogging and across the road to Bole Edge Plantation and Thornseat Road (where progress may be slowed by the presence of bilberries). Around the old quarry at the top then return by moorland track to Mortimer Road and across to a bridleway back to the cars.
Long trousers, zip on/offs or gaiters recommended because of a brambly bit in the woods. The heather is just coming into flower, early this year, so the moorland stretch should be pretty.
