Meet at 11am by the Church / Community Shop in Grindleford (parking on the road, or a 14 min walk from Grindleford Station). Route up Froggatt, Curbar and Baslow Edges, returning via Curbar and along River Derwent and Froggatt. Approx 8 miles.
Hi. After a recce yesterday, appears that the planned route is over 8 miles, so will miss out the section along Baslow Edge, which will reduce overall walk to about 7 miles.
9 met by Grindleford community shop. Chilly morning but the climb up through Hay Wood warmed everyone up. Across the road onto Froggatt Edge. Brief pause to look at Stoke Flat stone circle. Great views all along here and Curbar Edge. Lunch at the benches at Curbar Gap. Bit of road and then down across fields into Curbar. Return route along river through Calver Marshes and Froggatt village and wood. All stayed for tea and cake from the community shop, enjoying winter sun and admiring the solar panels on the church’s new roof!
