5 of us defied the weather warnings and started the walk in light drizzle, hoping that things wouldn’t turn out as badly as predicted.
It wasn’t long before layers were removed and conditions started to improve. The drizzle stopped and the cloud on Bamford Edge lifted.
The usual coffee break was taken in the woods above Upper Hurst Farm and we then took the diagonal ascent through the woods and onwards to Bamford Edge. There were no Tic Toc dancers and,in fact, few other walkers.Views extended to Stanage in the east,Win Hill to the west and,of course,Ladybower reservoir immediately below. Some sunshine even put in an appearance as we ate lunch.
After lunch we completed the traverse of Bamford Edge before descending through the familiar atmospheric woods to Ladybower dam and the disused railway track leading to the car park at Carr Road.
A lovely day with enjoyable walking, good company and great views.
