17 of us plus one dog left Grindleford station under an overcast sky, ascending Padley gorge before taking coffee
at the rocks just below the fort on Hathersage Moor. We then climbed Higgar Tor with reasonable 360 degree views.
Our descent took us down via Toothill Farm to Hathersage church where we took advantage of bench seats and a wall
to eat lunch, luckily in dry conditions. After descending further in to the village 3 of our party, who had earlier walked to Grindleford station to join the walk, departed including Poppy the dog. We then returned to our starting point along the river Derwent and up through woods before crossing over the railway line. Surprisingly we encountered a very limited amount of mud which made for pleasant walking conditions.
Thanks to all that came and for your excellent company.
Pete
