Meet at 10.00am at the east end of the Monsal Trail, where the trail crosses Coombs Road about 1km out of Bakewell (GR 230679). Space there for a several cars, more parking back down Coombs Road towards Bakewell or even up towards Bakewell station (we will cycle up the trail past the station)..
This is a gentle ride, taking in the Monsal trail to the Blackwell cafe (coffee stop) then up and over the top on the Pennine Bridleway (I expect that all of us will be pushing on the steep bits!) to join the northern end of the High Peak trail. A ride down this takes us to Parsley Hay (cafe, lunch) then on to Friden, where we leave the trail and take minor roads to Middleton and Youlgreave. The final section back to the cars will be either off or on road depending on conditions.
About 30 miles overall, suitable for tourers, hybrids, CX and mountain bikes.
I’ve chosen the route to be suitable for a range of riders, so I hope to see some extra faces as well as the cycling regulars.
