Dovestone Tor (not to be confused with Dovestone in the Chew Valley) sits high above Ladybower Reservoir, overlooking the flooded Derwent Valley. It’s a great place to escape the crowds, with quality gritstone routes and stunning views. There are plenty of routes in the Diff to HVS range to keep you climbing all day.

It’s a decent walk in — about an hour — from Cutthroat Bridge on the A57 (google maps link https://maps.app.goo.gl/swiDpGigGB1hWWxS7). I’ll be there around 9am (the parking fills up early), so I suggest we meet at the car park to split gear, aiming to set off walking by 9:15.

As the crag is high up and exposed, we’ll need a nice sunny day. The forecast currently looks okay, but I’ll make a call closer to the weekend on whether the meet will go ahead or move to another venue.
Let me know if you are coming so we don’t leave you behind at the carpark.
    Cheers

The weather doesn’t look reliable enough to make the long walk to Dovestone, best to save it for a sunny day.
But it’s still looks good enough to risk a venue with a shorter walk in.
So tomorrow’s meet will now be at Millstone, I’ll get to the crag around 10am and head for Cioch Bay area.

7 hardy souls and 2 dogs braved the wind, rain and cold at Millstone with a further 3 heading to Lawrencefield until rain finally halted play at around 2pm.
It was definitely a wise decision not to head to Dovestone’s.
    Thanks to everyone that attended
    Kial
